Brown Racing History In the 1960's, Grandpa Joe started racing demos at Kankakee. In the 70's, Joe, Sr. and brothers Ed, Garry, and Donny all raced at Kankakee on a regular basis. Over the years, Joe, Sr. stuck with it in the Street Stock class and had his best years in the mid to late 80's. Grandpa Joe was injured in an accident at home (not racing related) and racing was put on hold until 1994 when Joe, Sr. made a comeback with a few feature wins and battled for the LaSalle track championship coming up 10 points short. In 1998, Joe, Jr. began racing and took rookie of the year honors and finished the season with one heat race win and a high of third in a feature and 5th overall in points. Eight years later, due to family obligations, the Brown's returned to racing with Joe, Jr. behind the wheel of the B9 Ford Thunderbird--the only Ford at Kankakee full time. After some struggles, we are now on track with the help of some great friends like Jeff Momper, Kevin Lenzen, and the L3 crew. 2006 was a turning point when the B9 team captured 3 features and 6 heat race wins at Kankakee and 1 heat race win at LaSalle. The B9 Ford Thunderbird looks to be competitive in 2007 and beyond!! |
